Coupon Company Addresses Complaints

Voucher Pages New Platform Alleviates the Problem of Consumers Wasting Money on Vouchers That Are Not Redeemed

130415_VOUCHER_PAGES_Ronan_Hickey.jpgVoucher Pages, a Dublin based 'deals' platform, has launched what it calls "a Consumer Focused" coupon platform, which addresses a widespread consumer complaint of being charged money for vouchers that are not redeemed.

The problem with most online voucher sites, is that many coupons are invalid unless redeemed within a certain period, and that can leave consumers out of pocket. Of course, this practice has been used offline too for decades, but online the only beneficiaries are the coupon companies themselves, having collected the consumers money, but never having to pay out the money because the retailer cannot claim unless the voucher is used.

Providing shoppers with a single location to source discounts for products and services across Ireland, Voucher Pages allows users to view available discounted offers without needing to subscribe or provide any personal details or even purchase online. According to the company, unlike other deal providers, their new platform allows consumers to retrieve a coupon which they then use to purchase in-store or online at a discounted rate, directly from the retailer. This ensures that consumers do not waste money on deals that they do not redeem.

A year on from launching a location-based iPhone App, Voucher Pages says it currently has over 1,000 coupons available each day, and plans to double the number of monthly users to 130,000 with its new platform within the coming months. Additionally the company is actively recruiting new businesses across Ireland to ensure the choice of suppliers and savings for its users grows significantly.

Ronan Hickey who founded Voucher Pages in 2011 with the support of Enterprise Ireland, said: "Our new and unique coupon platform offers shoppers the most consumer-friendly method to access the largest choice of money-saving discounts in their local area or across Ireland with the purchase only taking place when using a service or buying a product. This is a key advantage for consumers over other deal providers. It ensures money is not wasted on deals that are never redeemed by consumers."

Hickey, who has commercial experience covering product management, business development and marketing, added: "We expect to double our user base over the coming months with our new coupon platform."

Voucher Pages, an Enterprise Ireland HPSU (high potential start up) is located at NovaUCD, the Centre for New Ventures and Entrepreneurs, at University College Dublin, and to date has received funding and support from the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Enterprise Board.
